Melissa is a native of San Angelo TX, she began her musical
studies at the age of three when she started piano lessons with
her mother, Melody Allen - a classically trained pianist.
At the age of nine, Melissa became very interested in the harp
and began lessons. Melissa turned her primary musical focus to
the harp, and attended Interlochen Center for the Arts, a
private fine arts high school located near Traverse City,
Michigan. While at Interlochen she studied harp full-time.
After high school, she attend the University of Texas' School of
Music on a full harp scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Music
in Harp Performance.
Since earning her harp degree, Melissa has performed at
countless weddings, receptions, engagement parties, corporate
events, formal parties, grand openings, banquets, high teas,
conventions, church services, and etc.
Melissa's extensive song repertoire includes classical,
romantic, popular, religious & sacred, jazz, holiday, jewish,
and more. While performing throughout the Central Texas Area,
Melissa has become one of the most popular professional harpists
in Texas.
In 1997, Melissa founded Calusio Creativity Center in Austin,
TX, a private fine art school specializing in music, dance, art
and theater. Calusio Creativity Center teaches several hundred
students per week and employs approximately fifteen teachers,

Melissa is currently a member of several national and local harp
societies such as the American Harp Society, Austin Federation
of Musicians, and Music Teachers National Association.
Melissa is one of the few harpists that can take musical
requests. She plays harp music that people know and recognize,
whether it is a classical or current piece. Musical requests
are always welcomed.
